The effects of this leave one to question whether these policies accomplish the opposite of what they were meant to do. According to the article, some groups of woman are more likely to have abortions in some areas where the clinics provided birth control to many. Even faith-based, pro-abstinence groups are affected if they are willing to discuss abortion with patients.
The most interesting note here is that women not getting proper prenatal care are more likely to have stillborn or low-birthweight babies or children with health problems. Such children also, whether because of poorer health prenatally and from birth or because of a lack of parent education or both, have a higher infant (first year of life) mortality rate. If being pro-life is the focus, shouldn't part of that be to give the children who will be born the best chance they can get at life and health?
