Again this year, Good Vibrations brings us National Masturbation Month, which the adult business bills as "a month-long celebration recognizing the many ways we can pleasure ourselves." This year the theme is "Party of One."

National Masturbation Month began shortly after Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders was fired for advocating discussion of masturbation in sexual education. Good Vibrations says they started National Masturbation Month to "highlight the importance of masturbation for nearly everyone" saying, "it's safe, it's healthy, it's free, it's pleasurable and it helps people get to know their bodies and their sexual responses."

The company is also sponsoring Masturbate-a-thon 2004 in San Francisco's South of Market area, exact location TBD. Participants will raise money for The Center for Sex and Culture, described as "a new San Francisco nonprofit which is raising money to open a library and archive, where they'll also hold classes, salons, art events, and more."

Masturbate-a-thons are expected in other locations as well, including Portland, Toronto, Boston, Montreal, Seattle and the morons.org lair, where every month is masturbation month.
