According to this Wired Magazine article, Congress is taking action to an activity that is more addictive than crack and leads to misogyny, pedophilia, boob jobs, and erectile dysfunction. (NOTE: Boob jobs and erectile disfunction won't occur in all individuals. Most will get only one or the other.)

And who is giving this testimony? Why, big scientific organizations like National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH).

According to Jeffrey Satinover of NARTH, "Pornography really does, unlike other addictions, biologically cause direct release of the most perfect addictive substance," Satinover said. "That is, it causes masturbation, which causes release of the naturally occurring opioids. It does what heroin can't do, in effect."

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kansas), a self-described conservative Christian, says that the ubiquitous of Internet porn is a terrible trend. He remembers the good ol' days when (this is a direct quote) "some guy would sneak a magazine in somewhere and show some of us, but you had to find him at the right time." I wonder if this lead to the future senator generating any naturally occurring opioids.

The panelists did agree that the government should fund health campaigns to EDUCATE THE PUBLIC about the evils of pornography including putting signs on busses saying sex with children is not okay. I guess with the new sex education "abstinence only" campaign in public schools, not everyone is learning this important lesson.

This would be amusing if it wasn't for the fact that 66 ABC affiliates have refused to air Saving Private Ryan because they feared the FCC crackdown on "porn". The FCC is also seeking to increase its oversight to include satellite and cable broadcasters since more and more people are abandoning the broadcasters and getting their entertainment from these sources.

Of course, much of this would be considered unconstitutional even by our present Supreme Court, but with Bush in there for four more years, who knows how long those 5-4 decisions protecting the right to privacy and speech will last. Soon, in America, we will be protected from sexually ambiguous sharks.

God be praised! Or, else...
