In a comment in response to my "Holy Shit" editorial about the World Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist attacks, a reader posting as "Jack Chick" said the following:

Who wants to place bets as to when Pat Robertson and co. start blaming this on:

1) Prayer removed from schools;
2) The Ten Commandments removed from government property;
3) Bill Clinton;
4) Gays living in New York City

Whoever placed their bet on 2 days wins. Today while being interviewed by Pat Robertson on The 700 Club, Jerry "Good God I'm a Fat Waste of Carbon" Falwell said the following:

The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this...throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle...all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen."

We have obtained the audio of Falwelll saying this, so you can hear it for yourself.

Well hold on just one motherfucking minute, you fat tub of shit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but these attacks didn't come from "God". These were terrorists. Humans. "God" had nothing to do with it. And from past experience, I think we can safely assume that "God" was not going to step in and turn those planes around.

And let us not forget that all signs point to religious fanaticism as that which incited the terrorists into action. Falwell's brand of religious fanaticism isn't all that different from bin Laden's after all: how much different is it to scapegoat the ACLU and gays for a terrorist attack than to scapegoat America for Middle-Eastern political problems?

So where the fuck does this disgusting waste of minerals get off blaming this on rightfully separating church and state, abortion and abortionists, gays, lesbians, and those interested in maintaining the separation of church and state that the founding fathers rightfully put in place? You have gone too far, Jerry Falwell.

What this useless hate monger boar is obviously trying to do is unconscionable: he's trying to capitalize on the suffering of thousands of innocent people to not only preach his foul right-wing fundamentalist agenda but also to try to stir up more hatred in a time when that's the last thing we need. It's bad enough with the xenophobia and hostility being expressed already toward Arabic Americans. Falwell only makes things worse by trying to divert some of that rage toward gays, lesbians, atheists, et al (essentially every group which Falwell hates).

Falwell is going to have on his head the responsibility of every gay or lesbian person, abortion doctor, or civil libertarian who is hurt or killed as a result of his rabid, riotous hate mongering. Shows you what a good loving Christian Reverend he is, doesn't it. If he had any more love for his fellow man, he'd be a serial killer.
