Well, it's warpath time for the Concerned "Women" for America, as they've chosen to vent their rage on someone they think really deserves it - the Girl Scouts.
But WHY would these people be attacking such a well-loved organization? According to the Concerned "Women" for America, they (WARNING: the following link leads directly to C"W"FA's own site, which may be horridly distasteful to our more intelligent readers) show no sign of slowing their plunge into hard-core feminism and political advocacy," which, in real-people terms, means they've invited speakers to their conference that have promoted feminism and pro-choice views. One is Kavita Ramdas, president and CEO of the Global Fund for Women, which, in its own words is
"...a grantmaking foundation supporting women's human rights organizations around the world working to address critical issues such as gaining economic independence, increasing girls' access to education and stopping violence against women."
Now, if the Concerned "Women" for America were actually women, you'd think they'd be all for things like that. Sadly, their name is just another of their horrible, filthy lies. These people, most of them men, don't WANT women to have rights, education, or safety, much less things like abortion which they hate on an entirely different level.
The second speaker they dislike, though they can't seem to pin down her name, is Dr. Johnetta Cole (though CWFA also identifies her in their article as being surnamed Jones - some research there, "ladies"), president of Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina. CWFA seems to have a problem with some of Dr. Cole's comments in a recent speech at the Women & Power Conference (which they label as "hard-left", since allowing women to be anything other than merry barefoot housewives/baby-machines is just SOOOOO in with liberals like me these days), including such statements as
Despite the fact that some wish to do so, I am not praying today or any day that lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered folk will somehow get religion and become heterosexuals. I'm not doing that. The nationality, the religion of every woman should be celebrated.
This, of course, gets right under the skin of these fundamentalists, since they have to maintain the lie of "ex-gay" hate ministries to convince themselves that being gay is a "disease" that can be "cured". No wonder they hate this woman so much, they can't even get her name right.
The "women" waste no more time in doing as much mudslinging as possible, declaring that the Girl Scouts are "steering girls toward Planned Parenthood for sexual advice and saying that lesbianism is no bar to being a Girl Scout leader". Good to know that pre-pubescent girls are being told to go to Planned Parenthood, despite that there's about a 0% chance of that actually happening, right? And heaven forbid that their leaders be lesbians - why, they might give those kids TEH GAY! (Yeah, I know I use that phrase a lot. So what? It's funny.) And, to make matters more hair-pulling for the "women", the Girl Scouts are being given handbooks such as The Ten Emerging Truths: New Directions for Girls 11-17," which, in the words of these "concerned" "women",
(...) relies heavily on feminist and liberal sources, such as (...) Human Rights Watch, the latter of which is cited for its 'Hatred in the Hallways: Violence and Discrimination Against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Students in U.S. Schools' (2001).Oh, heaven forbid that an organization on human rights publish something about the discrimination against GLBT students. Why, that's just awful, isn't it, considering someone human if they're gay, right? But don't take my word for it:
While reducing bullying or violence against any students is a laudable goal, Human Rights Watch advocates promoting homosexuality as the solution. Contributing sources to 'Hatred in the Hallways' read like a Who's Who of homosexual activist groups in the schools.(You noticing all these cliches we see so often, like "For Teh Children" and "Teh Homosexual Agenda"?)
Ultimately, I predict that the lying, hateful scumbag "women" of CWFA will accomplish nothing, as they usually do. After all, when you're saying crap like that, nobody takes you seriously.
