We've followed the case of Matthew Limon for years. Limon received a 17-year prison sentence for giving consensual oral sex to another male when a heterosexual offender would have received at most a little over a year. Eventually the Kansas Supreme Court found some way to see past the homophobia that runs rampant in that state and reversed his conviction, ruling that the state couldn't treat homosexual offenders differently.

This ruling seems to have really stuck in Kansas's craw. Now Miami County Attorney David Miller has filed new charges against Limon in the same case that Limon has already served 3 years in prison longer for than a heterosexual would. Miller wants Limon to be put on parole for 5 more years, not to send him back to prison.

In other words, if they can't punish Limon more for having homosexual relations than they would have punished someone for heterosexual relations, they'll charge him under more laws instead. It isn't enough for them to have him serve four times the sentence a heterosexual would have received; now they want to tack on another 5 years of parole.

ACLU spokesman Paul Cates said, "We're fine with him being recharged under Romeo and Juliet, but it seems like the prosecutor is trying to extend the supervision. This is for somebody who has served four-and-a-half years in prison for a consensual sex act."

The prosecutor's acts amount to little more than an old-fashioned witch hunt, coupled with an attorney whose ego was bruised by a homosexual person getting the better of him.
