There's a good interview / poking fun of Jerry Falwell over at the Washington Post. It shows his stupidity and moronic nature.

A few points that may spark discussion:

  • How can what he said be "taken out of context"? In what context would "I really believe that the [insert people jerry hates here]... I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen.' " be anything but offensive, hateful, and wrong?
  • The younger Falwell suggested that supporters could assuage the elder Falwell's "personal hurt" by sending "a special Vote of Confidence gift for Jerry Falwell of at least $50 or even $100." Oh. Money makes him feel better. Just (not) like Jesus, or any of the other early Christians!
  • "It was a pure misstatement, unintentional..." How does one unintentionally speak? If he said something, we would hope he had the intention to speak!

If I believed in Satan any more than I believe in God, I would attribute his comments to satanic control. But instead, I will attribute them to Jerry Falwell's twisted head. He is to Christianity what Osama bin Laden is to Islam. Both are attempting to hijack a perfectly good and respectable religion in order to further a crusade of hatred.
